Mental Detox with Infrared Sauna

In a world surrounded by constant distractions, notifications, updates, emails and to do lists, the infrared sauna is the perfect place to sit down, relax and detox from the world.

Although listening to mediation apps like Calm and Headspace can be great ways to unwind, I enjoy my sauna sessions best with just a water bottle. Knowing that I'm inside my own bubble with no stress or distractions is the perfect way for me to put my body in a parasympathetic state (aka resting mode). For thirty minutes either once or twice a day, I can physically and mentally detox, getting a full-body mediation.

What the heck am I supposed to do for thirty minutes without a phone!

  • Read - Have you been putting off reading that book? Thirty minutes every day reading will help you unwind and learn a few things.
  • Breath - Increasing circulation is a great benefit of infrared saunas but why not upgrade it yourself with some breathing. Techniques like Wim Hof, Buteyko and Oxygen Advantage are perfect for relaxing and creating additional circulation.
  • Meditate - This could mean all sorts of things but for me it means completely relaxing. No work, no stress, no nothing. Just breath, sweat and focus on YOU. This is the only time in your day you can forget about everything and just enjoy the heat and sweat.

Starting off by going to an infrared sauna spa is a great way to find out if this is something you want to make an investment in. I encourage you to try some of these techniques next time you sweat and find out for yourself how much better you'll feel stepping out.

If you're ready to get started sweating at home, I recommend the Clearlight Sanctuary™ 2 - Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna. There's room for two and you get the benefit of full spectrum. On a tighter budget? The Clearlight Premier™ IS-1 - One Person Far Infrared Sauna is a great option with TrueWave™ Far Infrared Heaters.
