Collection: Cold Plunge/Ice Bath
Cold therapy is all the rage these days but truth be told, this practice was commercially introduced in the 1800s in the Nordic countries. In order to save firewood in the winter season, Nordic people started taking ice baths. They quickly discovered the multiple benefits of cold plunging for 1-10 minutes in 35-50 degrees water. Some health benefits from cold plunging are:
- Strengthens your immune system by creating more white blood cells
- Produces a positive stress reaction and raises levels of serotonin and dopamine in your brain
- Putting your body under positive stress, making you more resilient against negative stress
- Lowers your blood pressure
- Enhances your blood circulation which leads to healthier arteries
- Produces more insulating brown (good) fat that replaces white (bad) fat
- Acts as a pain killer when adrenalin and noradrenalin is released
- Helps you recover from workouts and injuries as it reduces muscle soreness
